I started working on these lo-fi songs at the beginning of 2018, letting myself be a little more emotional and reflective and as a result almost ditched the project to do something more noisy or abstract (which is my safe place) but I just kept returning to these. I think the album is about the early 2000s and its music, about trying to be hip and maybe wondering if being angsty would have been a better choice. Above all I think it's about allowing the self to be itself (whatever that may mean).
